Troubleshooting & Fixes
The performance, crash, ban and region problems Mistfall Hunter players report most — with the practical fixes that help. Some demo-build issues can only be fully resolved by a developer patch.
Performance & stutter
Why does Mistfall Hunter stutter or run poorly even on a strong PC?
Heavy stutter is one of the most-reported issues in the demo build, and it isn't purely a hardware problem — demo builds are often unoptimised and some of it can only be fixed by a developer patch. A few settings changes reduce it in the meantime.
- Update your GPU drivers to the latest version.
- Cap your framerate (or enable V-Sync) so the GPU isn't constantly spiking.
- Lower the heaviest settings first — shadows, effects, view distance and any volumetric/fog option.
- On a laptop, force the game onto the dedicated GPU in your graphics control panel.
- Close background apps (browsers, overlays, capture software) that compete for GPU and memory.
- Verify the game files (Steam → Properties → Installed Files → Verify integrity).
Crashes & launch errors
The game won't launch or I get a fatal error / 'MistfallHunter-Win64-Shipping.exe' error.
Launch-time fatal errors are usually a driver, runtime or file-integrity problem rather than a broken install. Work through the common fixes below before reinstalling.
- Verify integrity of the game files through Steam.
- Update GPU drivers, and install the latest Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables and DirectX runtime.
- Disable in-game overlays (Discord, Steam, MSI Afterburner / RivaTuner, GeForce Experience) — these commonly trigger crashes.
- Try launching as administrator.
- If it persists, reinstall the game, then report the crash to the developers with the error text and your hardware.
I keep getting disconnected back to the main menu.
Frequent disconnects in the demo are usually connectivity or server-side, not your install. Check your own connection first, then report persistent drops — the developers can't see a problem they aren't told about.
- Test a wired connection or a different network to rule out local instability.
- If you're routing through a VPN you don't need, turn it off — it can add latency and cause drops.
- Note the time and frequency of disconnects and report them so the developers can correlate server issues.
Bans & anti-cheat
I was banned without cheating — especially on Linux, Steam Deck or Proton. What do I do?
The anti-cheat has produced false positives for some players, notably on Linux/Proton. This is an account issue, not a gameplay one: appeal it through the game's official support or Discord rather than trying to work around the ban. Provide your account details and platform so they can investigate.
- Contact the developers/publisher through their official support channel or Discord and request a review.
- Include your Steam account, platform (e.g. Linux/Proton version) and roughly when the ban happened.
- Avoid third-party overlays, injectors or tools that an anti-cheat can misread as tampering.
Region & language
The game is unavailable in my region, or I want an NA / OCE / AU server.
Regional availability and which server regions are live both vary, and broader server coverage is a frequent community request. This is a storefront and infrastructure matter rather than something you can fix client-side — watch the official channels for region and server updates.
Is my language supported?
The build ships with a set of supported languages, and more are commonly requested by the community. Check the current list on the Steam store page, and add your request to the official feedback channels if your language is missing.
These are community-tested workarounds, not official guidance. For account bans, region availability and persistent crashes, the developers' official support and feedback channels are the right place — see the FAQ for more common questions.
