Knocked & Downed

Before true death there's a knocked state — downed, crawling, and waiting for a teammate.

Down but not out

Taking lethal damage can put you into a knocked state rather than killing you outright. Teammates can rescue you to bring you back up, making the knocked window a chance for your squad to save the situation.

Knocks escalate

Repeated knocks don't reset cleanly — the system tracks how many times you've been knocked, and enough of them convert a knock into actual death (after which the Spiritual system takes over). Getting knocked again and again in one fight is a death spiral.

The crawl state

While knocked your collision shrinks to a crawl profile and you revive at a fraction of your health, so you come back up fragile. A downed ally is flagged as the top-priority interaction target, so reaching a teammate to revive them takes precedence over nearby loot or doors.

The knocked state isn't in every mode — some builds drop you straight to death with no down phase.
